If you haven't heard already Lucky didn't make it. She died Christmas night. We knew for awhile that something was not right with her. Her stomach was very bloated looking, she drank gallons of water and just seemed tired and out of breath alot. We had tests done but nothing ever came back to inidicate anything was wrong. Afterwards, the vet was pretty sure he could feel a tumor in her abdomen, probably on her pancreas. She lived a great life for almost 13 years. She was fiesty and knew how to get her way, but she was a good dog.
We got her when I was a freshman in high school a few months after my first dog, Bear, died. I had had him my whole life and it was really difficult when he died and Lucky helped me get over that. Not that you ever forget the pets that have passed away, but a new one always helps you move on from the pain and just remember the good times. Lucky was born the day after Bear died so it was kind of a cool thought to think that maybe he had come back in her. Who knows...but she helped. She got her name Lucky, because we thought she was "Lucky" that my dad let me keep her! LOL! She started out as my dog, but then I went to college and she became my mom's dog.
I got to see her one last time Christmas Eve so I am really glad for that. We also saw her on Christmas. I am also glad that I was there when it happend, so I could see her and be there for my mom.
We'll miss you Lucky.

I am glad you were able to see her again too. And thankful that Hillary was here to help us deal with the loss. Hillary was also a huge part of Lucky's early years. You two had so much fun together with all your dogs.
That is true. It's amazing how fast time flies. My mom is dealing with some of the same things with her Corgi, Tobey. I think Tobey is 13.
I love the puppy picture of Lucky. I remember when she was that slick little butterball.
We did have so much fun growing up around all of the dogs (Bear, Lucky, Isiah, Patches, Copper). I still miss Isiah all the time. Too bad they couldn't stay...
