In a rut
I cannot seem to get motivated to work out lately. Part of it is all the new shows are back on tv. I know I could record them if they are during workout time. I usually like to go around 7. The gym has cleared out alot by then and it gives me time to have dinner and let it digest a little before working out. Lately, though, 7 o'clock comes and I know I should go but I can't. I am too tired by then. I try to tell myself I should try going earlier like right when I get off work before I get too relaxed. First, I am usually getting hungry from trying to eat good all day so I want to get dinner going. Second, the gym is packed. And third, all I want to do is relax for a bit after a long day. I can't go in the mornings because I already get up at 5:30 be at work by 7 a.m. and there is no way I can get up at 4 a.m. to go work out. I don't know how to get my motivation back. I've still gone at least once a week but I know I need to go alot more. What to do? I know I am making excuses and I just need to get up and go! I feel stuck. I HATE lettuce, so salads are out. I know I should eat more veggies...the few I do like. I try to eat good, but I get soo hungry. I try to eat small meals and have snacks and I do pretty good until about 8 when I want something sweet. I've been trying to keep track of my calories on a website each day and I usually don't do too bad unless we go out to eat. Before the past couple weeks I was working out about 3 times a week and trying to eat good and NOTHING! Maybe I toned a little...but no real weight loss. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

I don't like veggies much either. I do drink V-8 and it counts as veggies. I love fruit so you could try different kinds of fruit. for the workouts I would have a protien snack in the afternoon so your not really hungry right after work and just do it! Go right after work or you won't go. Make it a rule to go only twice a week, then when you don't mind that try three times and so on. Slow is the key.
I swear by weight watchers. You should see if they have a meeting place in your area, it really helps me.
sorry I went on and on..I am just pumped today.
If you want something sweet that is good for you (ITS PACKED WITH PROTEIN AND FIBER) you should try the snickers marathon health bars. My friend Danielle turned me on to them and now I have to start each day with one. I eat one every morning for breakfast with a glass of milk and I am good to go until mid afternoon. I think they are only 210 calories which leaves you open for a pretty big snack or dinner. I also like the Schwan's healthy living microwave meals. I almost cant finish them in one sitting and they are between 200 and 400 calories depending on which one you get. They all taste awesome, Matt eats them and doesn't even know they are healthy! LOL
Anyway, thats what I do. Its not working out so well lately because of my collar bone but each time it gets a little easier. The American Heart Association has some great food diets you can try too. THANX RHYLEE. My mom did their one week soup diet that has a soup you eat everyday as much as you want along with a week long menu to follow and she lost 17 pounds in a week. Of course that depends on how big you are to begin with.
I agree with your friend on WW I went there for two years before Rhylee had her probs.
haha Rhylee deleted what I said about working out being a disaster lately!!
Um, I totally feel your pain!!!!
I HAVE TO HAVE TO HAVE TO go workout right after work or I plop on the couch and don't move for 5 hours :) So, fight the crowd and go. YOU CAN DO IT! and after I work out I notice I am not as hungry as I was so I don't over-eat at dinner like I normally do. I also try to eat well during the day and I dinner I end up gorging. I hate it. But, if I do get a workout in I am less likely to do so. I also have a 100 calorie pack snack in the afternoon to curb hunger.
Just get prego already and then you will have an excuse not to eat well and work out :)
I've read that when a person is craving "something sweet" their body is telling them they want fruit. Eat a piece of fruit, and if you're still wanting something sweet, eat another piece of fruit or just tell your body NO. I agree with Stacy. It's so easy to just plop down on the couch after work and not do anything, so if you go right after work you're: a.) done for the day and b.) probably not going to over-eat at dinner. Who wants to eat a ton when they just worked their butt off?
Apart from going to a gym, I will tell you that the ONLY thing that ever got me to lose weight was by doing the Biggest Loser weight-loss DVD. If you can find it, BUY IT. It is WELL WORTH YOUR MONEY. They have actual people from the show (who are still slightly over-weight) doing the exercises, and it really makes you feel like someone else knows how hard this is!
Another tip I learned was to drink a full 8 oz. glass of water before dinner. Your stomach is full of water, and you won't eat as much.
Hoping you feel motivated again soon! It's so hard, but the results are so worth it! I had just lost 30 pounds before getting pregnant, so I'm excited to have this baby, but it kills me knowing I can't work out for 6 weeks after the surgery!
Thanks for all the ideas and encouragment. Hopefully it will get my butt in gear!
If you don't get motivated to go to the gym take Marley for a walk! Beneficial to both of you...
love MOM
