Waiting for the 4th

I am so ready for the 4th of July. I am taking off work Thursday so we are heading to El Dorado Wednesday evening after I get off work. Chris took off the whole week. 4 whole days of no work, swimming and family! It is also my Dad's birthday on the 4th! So another reason to celebrate.

I hope to try to take some pictures of fireworks, but we'll see. Fireworks are difficult to photograph or at least have been for me.

Come on 4th! I am so ready for you.

You'll need a tripod. Keep the ISO at its lowest setting, and use a remote if you have one. Set the camera to bulb exposure, and open the shutter before the firework explodes. Close the shutter once it gets close to fizzling out.

If you don't have a remote already, I'd highly suggest one. Nikon has a $15 one that works great. I'm sure Pentax has something similar. If it's expensive, look on eBay for an alternative.

See here for more details:

I know what you mean about shooting fireworks. They are hard to capture. Your weekend sounds fun. I can't wait either!

You've probably seen these, but it was my first time trying to shoot fireworks. I just followed the suggestions on the link I gave you earlier. It's easier than you think, if you have a tripod and remote.
